Welcome to the Fulton Foundation

Fulton is a foundation, a residence (home), a school, a registration (locking in), a schooner and a private foundation.
We therefore have quite a number of strings to our bow and on this home page you may find information on what we do in every single unit of the organization.
The residence consists of two old houses, both of them protected, Postgaarden and Hans Æbeltofts Gaard, situated near the harbour in the town of Assens on the island Funen..

Our intern school as well as the foundation-management and workshops are housed in Hans Æbeltofts Gaard. Both houses are owned by the Fulton Foundation whereas the schooner FULTON is owned by the Danish National Museum. The Fulton Foundation has agreed to a contract with the Danish Government concerning the running and upkeep of the schooner. The governing body of the Fulton Foundation consists of six persons. An association, with the purpose to support the foundation financially, Fultons Venner, is closely connected to the foundation. The association has about 7oo members for the time being, spread all over the country, and an independent executive committee of 8.
The schooner FULTON was built in Marstal, 1915 and was used as a merchant vessel until 1970 when the Fulton Foundation took charge of the ship and began sailing with socially vulnerable boys.
Besides the socially deranged youngsters, the schooner took on school classes from all over Denmark and sailing trips for handicapped persons, business firms, clubs and many others.
In 1979 Postgaarden in Assens was acquired by the foundation and three years later Hans Æbeltofts Gaard became part of the physical framework.
We now possess more than 35 years of experience working with socially handicapped youngsters and believe we are able to arrange individual plans satisfying the needs of every youngster in our care.
